This 5-day intensive hands-on course is intended for auditors who want to develop their skills towards becoming an AS9100 Authenticated Experience Auditor. It is based on the current Aviation, Space and Defense requirements of AS9100 Rev D and AS9101 Rev G, both of which will be discussed in detail. The requirements of AS9104/1 and the auditor-related portions of AS9104/3 will also be covered, along with reference to many of the related aerospace standards. Extensive workshop and case study activity will focus on the auditing techniques as referenced by ISO 19011:2018 and AS9101G.
This highly participative course provides comprehensive instruction on auditing quality management systems and follows the basic steps of a quality management system audit of an aerospace manufacturing facility, from audit preparation and completion to reporting and corrective action. The case studies simulate an actual audit, and a course examination is conducted on the last day.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe the purpose of a Quality Management System and how it helps an organization function with increased effectiveness, consistency and customer satisfaction
- Explain the purpose and intent of the ISO 9000 series of Standards and how they relate to AS9100
- Describe the continuing process of AQMS Standard development and ISO 19011, the impact the developments may have on the audit process and the need for auditors to keep up to date
- Describe the seven Quality Management Principles and how they relate to AS9100
- Explain the intent and requirement of each Clause of AS9100
- Identify the audit evidence needed to demonstrate conformity with the AS9100 requirements
- Evaluate the effectiveness of an entire AQMS, including process, customer focus and continual improvement
- Describe the auditor authentication requirements for AS9100
- Describe the documented information required by the AQMS and the interrelationships between the Quality Manual, procedures, quality planning, policy and objectives
- Evaluate the differing requirements for AQMS-documented information in a variety of situations and understand the difference between documents and records
- Understand the hierarchy of Standards published under the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) umbrella
- Understand the hierarchy of aviation authorities’ requirements (i.e. FAA, military, NASA) and applicable advisory material, where to obtain additional information and how to incorporate the authorities’ requirement aspects into the AS9110 audit activities
- Describe the difference between legal compliance and conformity with AQMS Standards, and the significance of these terms when conducting audits
- Describe the AAQG requirements for AQMS certification/ registration programs
- Describe the process of certification/registration of an organization’s AQMS Standards
- Describe the auditor approval requirements for the applicable AQMS Standards
- Plan and organize all aspects of an AQMS audit
- Perform all aspects of an AQMS audit
- Demonstrate the proper use of the AS9101 Forms
- Make recommendations on the acceptability of the AQMS for certification
- Describe the OASIS database for access to audit data and security (public and private)
- Studying the current published version of the Standard and completion of the pre-course questionnaire provided is required. Completed questionnaires will be reviewed at the class to provide evidence of understanding of the Standard
- To gain maximum benefit from this course, attendees should already be familiar with the AS9100 standard
- Understanding the work, training and auditing requirements for AEA certification would be helpful (described in AS9104/3)
- Experience with conducting internal or supplier audits (3rd Party Audits)
Attendees who achieve the required pass points for the written examination (2 hours) and the required minimum grading for the in-class exercises will receive a certificate of “Successful Completion” to demonstrate that the AS9100 Lead Auditor training requirements have been met. Attendees who do not achieve the required points to pass the course will receive a certificate of “attendance” only

- The course meets the standard lead auditor training portion of the knowledge requirements for certification of AS9100 Authenticated Auditors and Authenticated Experienced Auditors. Individuals desiring to perform Third-Party Audits for a Certification Body will need to also complete the 4-day Aerospace Auditor Transition Training (AATT) course
